5 Essential Oils for a nighttime routine
This one is a given. You’ve heard about the benefits of lavender and sleep. A small amount of lavender goes a long way. Lavender has been used for many many years as a way to calm and soothe.
Frankincense is my all-time favorite oil. It’s one that took a while to get used to, but now I use it under my eyes, for other facial care needs, and before bed. It’s grounding and helps to “take it down a notch” when things are far too chaotic!
Another favorite and the kids LOVE this one. The blend includes Coriander, Geranium, Palmarosa, Lavender, Ylang Ylang, Roman Chamomile and others that are safe for children. “Baby” does not mean it’s only for babies, we use it every night for all of us!
Another kid-safe oil to use at night time.
Is chaos taking over your house? Time to use “calm” to bring everyone down a notch!
The routine for the kids
Of course, the children (typically) go to bed first. We diffuse Gentle Baby upstairs every evening. It sits in the hallway so the entire family can benefit from the calming aroma of Gentle Baby.
Our nighttime routine includes a bath every night for the kids. We drop 2-3 drops of seedlings calm into the tub. It is such a soothing scent and helps everyone (even mom and dad) to wind down after a crazy day.
Then comes the Sleepyize. This goes on the bottom of the kids’ feet. We do that first before putting lotion on them (darn Minnesota DRY winters!) so the scent stays near to them, then we put jammies and socks on!
If there is a sickness going around in the house, we end up diffusing snifflease in their bedrooms too!
Mom and Dads nighttime routine with essential oils
It took a while to get my significant other to use and be okay with me using essential oils right before bed. He has a very sensitive system when it comes to scents and aromas. Now he enjoys the fact that I put lavender on my feet every night!
Along with gentle baby diffusing on the upstairs level, I use frankincense when washing my face before bed. Then, I put lavender on the bottoms of my feet and back of my neck. The aroma sticks with me throughout the entire night!
We also diffuse frankincense downstairs on the main level in the evening. Something about it gives you a sense of calm! It’s pretty amazing how it works.
You can have this routine too!
